Bring Me Sunshine

Friday 4th April & Friday 11th April 2025
St Peters Church, Dinas Powys

On 4th April 2025 Barry Ladies Choir joined forces with Vale Associated Training Brass Band to raise £700 for Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern in a spring concert for a capacity crowd at St Peters Church in Dinas Powys. The event, aptly named ‘Bring me Sunshine’, was an uplifting evening for both audience and performers. A big thank you to the musical teams of Emily Gait-Scaglioni & Christopher Fossey from Barry Ladies Choir and Dan Dennis from VAT Brass Band. Many thanks also to John Fanshaw and Judith Anderson from DPVC for helping organise the evening.

VAT Brass band, the future of brass banding in the Vale, thrilled the audience with classics of Batman, Bob the Builder, Rocky, Postman Pat, Wallace & Gromit as well as music by The Rolling Stones, Madness and Abba!

In the second half Barry Ladies Choir entertained us with ‘Blue Moon’ and ‘Panis Angelicus’ as well as music from Mary Poppins and Les Miserables, before finishing with the cheerful ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ by Morecambe & Wise. A rousing joint item of the Welsh National Anthem brought the evening to a jubilant end.

Barry Ladies Choir performed again the following week at the DPVC Dementia Friendly Coffee morning. A beautiful morning of music which created smiles all round when everyone joined in with ‘Bing Me Sunshine’! Delicious refreshments were also enjoyed by all. DPVC provides support and friendship to those who feel isolated and lonely. Please see dpvc.org.uk for more information on all their activities.

Barry Town Council International Women's Day Coffee Morning

Friday 7th March 2025

"Thank you so much for coming to perform at our International Women’s Day event.  It was perfect."

Barry Ladies Choir enjoyed singing at Barry Town Council’s International Women’s Day coffee morning on Friday 7th March. They sang “Blue Moon” as a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald & Billie Holiday and then “Feed the Birds” as a tribute to Julie Andrews.

Our MD also talked a bit about a local composer Grace Williams for whom next year is the 120th anniversary of her birth.

Since September the choir have also been singing music by the inspirational singers Bonnie Tyler & Dolly Parton!

The event also featured fantastic guest speakers and it was a chance to honour the inspirational women in our lives.
